The Los Angeles Dodgers (16-11, 16-10 O/U) will be taking on the Toronto Blue Jays (13-12, 10-15 O/U) on Friday evening in the opening game of a three-game interleague series. The Dodgers are coming off a 2-1 road win over the Washington Nationals on Thursday while the Blue Jays are coming off Thursday’s 2-1 road loss in five innings against the Kansas City Royals. Righty Gavin Stone (1-1, 6.00 ERA) is going to be pitching in this game for Los Angeles while Toronto is sending right-hander Chris Bassitt (2-3, 3.30 ERA).
Dodgers looking to impress people throughout the season
The Los Angeles Dodgers have been doing incredibly well this season and are playing incredibly well. The team is leading the NL West right now as they have a 16-11 record right now. The Dodgers have been hitting incredibly well at the plate right now as they have a .269/.350/.434 team slash line and are scoring an incredible 5.22 runs per game.
They have been hitting well and that has been on the back of shortstop Mookie Betts (1.113 OPS, 21 RBIs) has been hitting extremely well and that sets the plate for the rest of the lineup. Right-hander Gavin Stone (1-1, 6.00 ERA) will be on the mound and is coming off a no-decision against the New York Mets where he gave up two runs on four hits with five walks and one strikeout in 3.1 innings.
Blue Jays need to begin hitting more consistently
The Toronto Blue Jays have been struggling this season as the team is last in the AL East with a 13-13 record and have to do better to be consistent in one of the toughest divisions in baseball. Toronto is 20th in MLB with a .684 team OPS while averaging 3.69 runs per game thus far.
Designated hitter Justin Turner (.930 OPS, 11 walks) has been hitting well and using his veteran leadership to continue extending the lineup and making things even better for the team. Right-hander Chris Bassitt (2-3, 3.90 ERA) has been struggling a bit as he is coming off a losing effort against the San Diego Padres where he pitched 5.1 innings and gave up four runs (two earned) on six hits with three walks and four strikeouts.

Rating:
Gavin Stone has been struggling a bit but he allowed four runs in his previous 10 innings while Chris Bassitt has allowed 4+ runs in three of his first five starts. There is a significant difference between these teams out of their bullpen as the Dodgers are 16th in the majors with a 4.04 reliever ERA while the Blue Jays are 26th in the sport with a 4.85 bullpen ERA right now. It is not just the pitching as the ability to slug the baseball is very critical as Los Angeles is third in the sport with a .434 team slugging percentage while Toronto is down at 21st place with a .367 team slugging percentage. All in all, take the Los Angeles Dodgers to win in their first game of the series.
Prediction: Los Angeles Dodgers -130

Rating:
Gavin Stone has been able to pitch well and has allowed three or fewer runs in three of his four starts while Chris Bassitt is pitching to a 3.18 ERA in his four April starts up to this point. In the previous week, these teams were hitting pretty well, but not enough to reach the total. The Dodgers are averaging 5.83 runs in their last six games while the Blue Jays are scoring 3.29 runs in their previous seven games. Both teams have been pitching well throughout the last 15 days as well as both teams are ranked eighth in Major League Baseball with a 3.35 team ERA in the games during that stretch. Neither team has been hitting for too much power throughout the last week as Los Angeles has hit five home runs in their six games while Toronto has slugged six home runs in their previous seven games. All of these stats showcase that the under is going to be the better option for this game as they are going to struggle to score runs early and that will be the difference.
Prediction: Under 9

Sports has been my love since playing as one of the first first girls in farm and little league baseball. When I was in college I wrote about local sporting events and after leaving school I worked at colleges and universities as an assistant athletic director and an athletic director. After venturing out on my own as a freelance sports writer I accepted work as an online writer for sports betting sites and have done that for 10 years. Basketball is my passion including the NCAA and NBA as well as European ball, but I make picks on all sports across the board. Moneyline, point spread or over/under, I can find an angle for each in any sporting event on the planet.
