This keto teriyaki sauce recipe is life-changing for lovers of Japanese food who want to stay low-carb. It’s sweet, salty, and garlicky – perfect over chicken or beef with zero net carbs.
We use xylitol in this recipe because it doesn’t crystallize like other sweeteners when it cools down. You can replace the xylitol with Swerve or monk fruit but remember it will harden as it cools.

Tips
It is important to note that xylitol is toxic to dogs. Do not share your sugar-free teriyaki sauce with your furry friend.
If your low-carb teriyaki sauce is lumpy (caused by the xanthan gum not dissolving), mix it quickly with your stick blender. Problem solved.
This keto teriyaki sauce recipe makes about one ¼ cups, depending on how much you reduce it. The recipe makes 20 servings. One serving is one tablespoon.
Ingredients
- 1 cup of Water
- ½ cup of Tamari Sauce
- ¼ cup of Xylitol
- 1 tablespoon of Sesame Oil
- 2 teaspoons of Garlic Powder
- ½ teaspoon of Ginger, ground
- 1/2 teaspoon of Xanthan Gum
- 2 tablespoons of Sesame Seeds, optional
How to Make Keto Teriyaki Sauce
- Place all the ingredients, except the xanthan gum, in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk together.
- Bring to the boil and reduce by about ¼ of a cup (keep a close eye on the sauce as it is prone to boiling over).
- Sprinkle the xanthan gum over and whisk in.
- Continue to boil until the sauce has thickened, then remove from the heat.
- Stir through the sesame seeds if used.
- Serve the hot sauce over chicken, fish, steak, or vegetables, or allow it to cool to room temperature before storing it in an airtight container in the fridge.
